OCEANIC is a popular brand because of its numerous bestseller products (TV, sound and video). OCEANIC communication has also been intense and constant over the years.

1934-1966: OCEANIC French leader

OCEANIC brand started in 1934 in France. OCEANIC products were conceived and manufactured to be innovative and robust. The attention paid to the design of the 40 different models brought good reputation and success. The numerous ads shown OCEANIC as a French leader in brown products.
As early as 1956 OCEANIC brought innovation to television with its unique patented system including the « servo régleur ».



1966-1986: OCEANIC ITT

Acquired in 1966 by the famous international ITT group, OCEANIC used the multinational to boost its growth, investing in R&D and communication. The range of OCEANIC TV sets got broader and still offered good quality. Thanks to its R&D department OCEANIC developed the first « extra flat » screen at the end of the 60s, like the rectangular extra flat screen in the ad below signed Savignac.

OCEANIC appeared everywhere thanks to its numerous ads : press, radio, posters and even on television.

OCEANIC was sponsoring its own car at the race “24h du Mans”. OCEANIC won Le Mans in 1980.

1987-2003: OCEANIC NOKIA

In 1987 NOKIA, another international group known for its quality and leadership, started negotiations with ITT. NOKIA wanted to conquer the European brown goods market and needed OCEANIC. With OCEANIC, NOKIA became the third biggest manufacturer of mass market electronic products. OCEANIC was exported in Western Europe and its French channel of distribution was becoming even wider.

In 1992, OCEANIC also presented a high range of TV Sets including digital stereo NICAM system. As early as 1993 OCEANIC launched TV sets with the 16/9th format (one of the screen was 91 cm/ 36 inches wide a revolution at the time). OCEANIC was also one of the first manufacturers to work on the HD (High Definition) standard.

The intense communication informed the customers on all these technological innovations. OCEANIC was one of the top electronics brand thanks to all the ads (many on TV). OCEANIC was sponsoring the Tennis Paris Open, an important sporting event.

2005: OCEANIC digital age

OCEANIC was back, manufacturing and selling flat screens, such as LCD and Plasma (from 7 inches wide to 42 inches). Still innovating, OCEANIC was the first to launch a digital TV set, receiving and transmitting TNT, the portable Ocean DVB-T 700, which was a success.



2009: OCEANIC new start

OCEANIC still embodies quality and innovation.
OCEANIC has remained a brand customers can rely on, with a solid reputation for a full range of TV sets, photoframes, video products and TV peripherals.
